eMAR Updates - November 2025
These releases introduce new features and address bugs
eMAR Portal Update (v5.5.0) - 4th November
This update introduces a number of improvements and bug fixes across the portal, including:
- Important Update: Vitals Recording Has Moved: Vitals recording has moved and is now optimised for the new Camascope 2.0 app. While the Classic eMAR app still allows Pain Level recording for now, we recommend switching to the Camascope 2.0 app to record all vitals as we prepare to retire the Classic app. Vitals are now set up from the Vitals tab at the top of the Medication Profile, allowing you to record Pain, Blood Pressure, Blood Glucose, and Pulse directly alongside medication administration. The separate NHS Vitals app and its tracking features are no longer supported, as the NHS trial has now been completed. Please note: The separate Vitals report will soon no longer be accessible from the portal. Vitals recordings will instead be visible only in the MAR Report.
- New “External Read Only” Staff Role: A new portal-only staff role designed for CQC inspectors, GPs and other authorised external professionals.
- Manager Authorisation in MAR Report: The MAR Report now includes a new “Authorisation” column, showing which manager authorised the administration when manager approval was required.
- Bug Fixes: This set of fixes improves reliability and data consistency across the system, including corrections to pharmacist email notifications, PRN reporting behaviour, button submission validation, and visibility of medical conditions when Nourish sync is disabled. It also includes several improvements that refine the stability and usability of the new check-in screen.
eMAR App Update (v2.4.0) - 11th November
This update introdudes a number of improvements and bug fixes, including:
- WebView Support for PCS-Managed Devices: Restores compatibility for PCS-issued devices, allowing Camascope eMAR and PCS Care Planning to run on the same handset again.
- Follow-Ups for Scheduled Medications (Phase 1): Follow-up actions can now be enabled for scheduled (non-PRN) medications
- Bug Fixes: Resolves several UI and workflow issues in the app, including fixing scrolling when selecting units, correcting resident display details, and preventing deceased residents from appearing on active MAR screens. It also addresses absence handling inconsistencies, follow-up timing errors, timeout alignment problems, and conflicts caused when multiple follow-ups are created.
eMAR Portal Update (v5.5.3) - 27th November
This updates incorporates minor bug fixes for the portal. (There is no planned downtime for this update):
- Follow-Ups for Scheduled Medications (Phase 1): New separate toggles added for PRN vs Scheduled medication follow-ups to address the issue where meds with both PRN and Scheduled rounds can create unwanted follow-ups. This is a Camascope 2.0 only feature that is designed to work with versions v.2.4.1 of the app and above.
VIVALDI Social Care Study
Camascope has partnered with the VIVALDI Social Care Study, which aims to leverage existing data to better understand and reduce the impact of infections and outbreaks in care homes.
Participation requires no input from care providers. Once agreed, Camascope will securely share only NHS numbers with the VIVALDI Study, allowing researchers to gain an accurate understanding of the number of residents in care homes.
